Shadows
Cali Kula presents Shadows, a four-track House EP moving between Deep House, Minimal House, Psychedelic House, hypnotic grooves and dubby electronic textures. Built primarily for the dancefloor, the EP combines heavy basslines, stripped-back arrangements, psychedelic synths and organic percussion, moving from peak-time energy towards a deeper after-hours atmosphere.
The EP opens with “A Trip”, a powerful Deep House cut built around a heavy, punchy bassline and a tight, minimal groove. Psychedelic synth elements gradually unfold around the rhythm, giving the track a trippy character while keeping the focus firmly on the dancefloor.
“Wah Wah” continues in the same club-oriented direction, with another deep and powerful bassline driving the track. Wah-wah synthesizers move through the groove, adding a psychedelic dimension to a stripped-down House framework. Together, “A Trip” and “Wah Wah” form the most direct and dancefloor-focused part of the EP.
With the title track “Shadows”, Cali Kula shifts towards a more hypnotic and organic approach. At 120 BPM, the track develops like a contemporary African-inspired procession, driven by layered percussion and extended instrumental solos. Repetition, groove and subtle variations create a trance-like movement without relying on peak-time intensity.
The EP closes with “Take A Break”, a late-night track where subtle Breakbeat influences meet Minimal House and Dub textures. Spacious, restrained and slightly psychedelic, it feels designed for the after-hours — a slower transition away from the intensity of the dancefloor rather than a conventional closing statement.
Across its four tracks, Shadows explores the space between Deep House, House, Minimal House, Psychedelic House, Dub and Breakbeat, balancing club functionality with hypnotic rhythms, strong low-end and a distinctly atmospheric electronic sound.
